Spain, Madrid 2010

Went to Spain and this is our Madrid leg of the self-guided tour. Madrid is an amazing place with a very distinct look. While there were many tall buildings, there are barely any skyscrapers for such a large metropolitan.

Tokyo / Thanksgiving trip 2009

Had a fantastic trip last year to Tokyo. I wasn’t able to upload images correctly due to a small bug in the WordPress software. Finally got it working and now I can start uploading again. Shooting in Tokyo was a challenge since there was so little time to cram it all in. Here is just a few pictures. I will probably end up getting a Flickr Pro account soon and uploading the rest. Until then, Ittekimasu!

Half Moon Bay – Memorial Day 2009

Tide pools! Had to get up early early and get to Half-moon Bay/ Moss Beach for low-tide. From there we spent 3 hours during low-tide walking around on the tide pools checking out all sorts of amazing things that are hidden by the regular tides. Apparently during Memorial day, low-tide is at it’s lowest so we had a crowd of kids, teenagers and adults all wandering around to observe aquatic nature.

April 30th – Garden update

Only 2 weeks and my garden is finally starting something. Nothing to brag about, but just happy to see a change.
Taken with a Macro on a tripod this time.
Despite my obsession, it’s relaxing to work the garden.

This is one earlier of the June bearing strawberry plants in our raised vegetable bed.

Taken by my wife with a Canon SD790 IS in Macro mode who clearly has better eye for lighting and a steadier hand than I do.

The Pioneer Woman had these great simple instructions to build a raised vegetable bed. I built a smaller version with 2×6′s cut at 4 feet length. Then doubled the height. You can’t tell but there’s hardware cloth underneath. When strawberry production slows down in winter, I’ll re-do this right and put some commercial grade weed cover under the hardware cloth to deter gophers further. They can’t break through it currently, but it hasn’t stopped them from trying.
